Air Canada & Virgin Australia Expand Shared Lounge Access
Air Canada Aeroplan and Virgin Australia Velocity elite frequent flyer members now have access to each other's lounges.
Air Canada Aeroplan Elite 50K, 75K, and Super Elite level members (plus 1 guest) are now eligible to visit Virgin Australia lounges when traveling on a same-day confirmed Virgin Australia (VOZ/VA) ticket. Virgin Australia Velocity Gold and Platinum members (plus 1 guest) can also now access Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges and Air Canada Cafés when traveling on a same-day confirmed Air Canada (ACA/AC) ticket.
This announcement expands the lounge options for those traveling on these airlines. Virgin Australia lounges are found in many popular Australian destinations such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth (Terminal 1), and Sydney. Air Canada Maple Leaf lounges are found in some American, Canadian and European airports such as Calgary, Edmonton, Frankfurt, Halifax, London (LHR), Los Angeles, Montreal, New York (LGA), Ottawa, Paris, Regina, St. John's, Toronto, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.
Aeroplan members in the 50K and above tier already have Star Alliance (Gold) partner lounge access, but this expands options to additional lounges within Australia. This lounge benefit is a great addition to the already existing mileage partnership between Air Canada and Virgin Australia.
Closing Thoughts
This is great news for Air Canada and Virgin Australia elite members. I have been to the Maple Leaf lounge in New York (LGA) and found it very nice and relaxing. I remember visiting this lounge because it was the quietest lounge I have ever been to. This announcement will expand the lounge offerings for those travelling with these airlines.
