Aspire Air Canada Café Lounge Announces Plan for Toronto City Airport Opening in 2023
Note: This lounge has opened on June 1, 2023
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ/CYTZ) will be getting its first and only lounge in 2023. Swissport has announced a new Aspire lounge as they continue to grow their airport lounge business. This will be the 10th Aspire lounge in North America (6th in Canada) and the 65th Aspire lounge to open worldwide.
Toronto City Airport is located south of the city on an island in Lake Ontario. Currently, the airport offers service to 20 destinations in Canada and the U.S. operated by Air Canada, Air Transat, and Porter Airlines. One of the cool features of this airport is an 853-foot pedestrian tunnel that connects the island airport to the mainland. The tunnel has motorized walkways which take about six minutes to get between the airport and the city.

The new Aspire lounge will be the first LEED-certified lounge operated by Swissport. This 4,271 square foot lounge will have seating for 133 passengers and feature wood-textured furniture, quartz countertops, and greenery giving the lounge a cosmopolitan feeling.
The lounge will offer high-end hot and cold culinary selections, along with a wide variety of beverages including local wines, beers, and spirits. Fresh croissants, pastries, and breads that are baked daily. Like some other lounges, they will also offer a take-away option for those short on time. There will also be features designed for the business traveler including tables, charging stations, a meeting room, and a private work room for getting work done while traveling.
Closing Thoughts
It's exciting anytime an airport gets its first lounge, and with service from 3 airlines this lounge will be very welcomed by travelers. I will keep my eye on this lounge and report any updates.
