Capital One opened a new lounge at Washington Dulles (IAD) International Airport. This new location opened its doors to the public on September 7, 2023, and spans 8,500 square feet.

The lounge was constructed at the base of the airport's historic Air Traffic Control Tower and can be found on the ticketing level beyond the TSA PreCheck area between the east and west security checkpoints. Throughout the lounge is ample seating and table space. The modern design of the lounge features beautiful teak wood architectural elements.

Parents will also find comfort for them and their children. There is a dedicated area for guests who are breastfeeding, plus a changing table with a stock of wipes, diapers, and a bottle warmer. There are also tables where kids and families can set up to wait for upcoming flights.

Food and Beverage

The new lounge features local food and beverage options. Passengers can sit down and enjoy a meal or easily grab food and beverages on the way to their gate. The food options provide travelers with delicious, health-conscious menu choices that are locally sourced and served plated as small bites. The grab-and-go food sections have options such as jarred salads, granola bowls, and fresh juices – all sustainably packaged. Some other local items include Lost Rhino Brewing and craft chocolates from River-Sea Chocolates, a Chantilly-based chocolatier.

The lounge looks to have many of the amenities that are found at the Dallas location, including grab-and-go food. There is also a complete beverage service, including coffee, teas, draft lattes, and draft (La Colombe) cold brew. The bar has an assortment of cocktails, local craft brews, mocktails, and other mixed cocktails.

We created the Capital One Lounge at Dulles Airport with the goal of providing a differentiated airport lounge experience and for us this means catering to a more diverse group of travelers and traveler needs while at the same time incorporating authentically local touches throughout”

Lounge Access

Access to the lounge can be granted with a Capital One Venture X, Venture X Business, Venture, and Spark Miles credit card. Non-Capital One customers can purchase a one-time pass for $65 per visit. Sadly, Priority Pass members are not eligible for access to this lounge.

Future Openings

Capital One opened its first lounge in fall 2021 at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and will soon expand to Denver International Airport (DEN) and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS). Capital One is also developing Capital One Landings, which focus on customers traveling where shorter stays at the airport at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

Closing Thoughts

I am very excited about the news of this lounge opening. Dulles has many United Club locations and a total of eleven lounges including a USO (military lounge). The Capital One Dallas (DFW) location is still one of my favorite lounges I have visited. According to the Capital One Lounge page the Denver (DEN) location will be the next location opening sometime in 2023.
