Capital One Venture Rewards and Spark Miles Credit Cards Losing Lounge Benefits
Capital One has announced the removal of the free airport lounge access benefit from two of their existing credit cards. Starting January 1, 2025, Capital One Venture Rewards and Capital One Spark Miles for Business credit cards will no longer grant members complimentary lounge visits.
Currently, the Venture Rewards and Spark Miles for Business cards offer customers two complimentary lounge visits per year. This change is aimed to help reduce the overcrowding in lounges. Through Dec. 31, 2024, cardholders still receive two complimentary visits to Capital One lounge locations and Plaza Premium airport lounges.
For those with existing mentioned cards, you will need to consider keeping, upgrading, or canceling the card. If you upgrade to the Capital One Venture X or Capital One Venture X Business card, you will pay extra but also receive some fantastic benefits. The "X" cards have an annual fee of $395, which includes unlimited lounge visits (including guests), a $300 annual travel credit (for Capital One travel bookings), and a 10,000-mile bonus every anniversary year. The card also (currently) has a 75,000 bonus point offer for new signups.
Closing Thoughts
If you are looking for a card with a low annual fee that offers lounge access, your options will soon be limited, but since these changes don't go into effect until 2025, you still might consider the Venture Rewards and Spark Miles for Business cards as an option.
