Update: this terrace officially opened on Monday, March 20, 2023.
Chase has shared that the new “Sapphire Terrace” will be taking all or some of the Observation Terrace area that has been such a nice free amenity to all travelers at Austin airport. The lounge is reported to be partially indoor and partially outdoor. They will serve complementary grab-and-go food, alcoholic drinks, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Chase Sapphire Reserve card members will be eligible to bring two guests. The space will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The terrace will also feature “shuffleboard, a giveaway, and more” and “artwork from Austin artist and muralist Rex Hamilton that’s inspired by the vibrant colors and native flowers of Texas.”
Originally, I hoped that since it is being operated by the same group as The Club it would have the same rules as the Chase Lounge in Hong Kong, but apparently, this lounge will not allow Priority Pass members. Instead, you must have or be a guest of a person with a Chase Sapphire Reserve card to gain access. Austin has no Priority Pass lounge options, so this is unfortunate news, but hopefully will change in the future.
