KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has completed renovations at two of their four international KLM Crown Lounges. Both Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) and Houston George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) airports have been renovated and are open for business. The new refreshed designs are part of the airlines' global effort to enhance customer experience at lounges around the world. The lounges are open for qualifying KLM, Air France, and SkyTeam partner passengers, as well as Priority Pass, Dragon Pass, LoungeKey, DreamFolks, as well as customers who pay for daily access.

Toronto, Canada

The Toronto (YYZ) lounge is open daily from 12:00 to 00:00 (midnight) and is located near Gate C32 in Terminal 3 (take elevator to AT level). The Toronto location is situated in the international area of Terminal 3 and offers seating for 161 guests. The lounge spans 6,100 square feet (575 sqm). The lounge has an expansive 50-foot-wide window that provides guests with a panoramic view of the runways and airport activities.

The lounge includes free Wi-Fi, power charging, a full buffet with warm and cold snacks, drinks, and a bar. This location is also available to all travelers (space depending) with a same-day (any airline) boarding pass for paid access for 40 Canadian dollars.

Houston, Texas

The Houston (IAH) lounge re-opened its doors on September 14th, 2023, and is open from 06:00 to 21:00 (9 PM) daily. The lounge is located in their international terminal (D) near gate D8. The updated lounge spans 3,660 square feet (340 sqm) with a capacity for 100 people.

The lounge offers abundant seating areas ideal for dining, relaxation, or working. They also offer free Wi-Fi, a hot and cold buffet with dining options changing throughout the day, a self-service bar featuring a wide array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, international publications in five languages, convenient luggage storage, and restrooms.

The main transformations in the lounge include new flooring, wallpaper, fixtures, and upgrades to the bathroom. The lounge has also been restocked with new furniture, incorporating sustainability with long-lasting materials and elements such as eco-leather and recycled materials.

Delft Blue House Display

There is a signature KLM Delft Blue house display that will showcase the various miniature houses from over the years, each depicting a real Dutch building. These houses go back to the 1950's are given to select customers (Business Class) and are collector items for many. This is such a popular thing that there is a KLM provided iPhone & Android app for tracking these collectables.

A new house is released each year, and house #104 will be announced this year on October 7, 2023 to the public!

Closing Thoughts

I have been to the KLM lounge in Houston (IAH) many times over the years. The lounge was nice but small and in need of a remodel. I am happy to hear they have refreshed the lounge, and I will visit it soon to look (and do a full review). If you want to visit the Houston lounge with Priority Pass (or another lounge program), consider avoiding their busy times between 13:00 and 15:45 daily since that is the arrival and departure times for Air France and KLM.
