Military Lounge Opens at Jacksonville (JAX) Airport

After the sudden closure of the previous USO lounge (in October) at the Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), the new Jacksonville Military Lounge has opened in its previous location. The re-opening and ribbon cutting was held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. The hours will change as they start adding more volunteers, so check with the lounge for hours of operation.

Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) refurbished and updated the space, while other local organizations, such as the Rotary Club, United Way, and the Veterans Council, worked to help coordinate volunteers to staff the lounge. If you are someone you know is interested in volunteering at the lounge visit the volunteer sign-up page to be contacted.

The lounge, a rest stop for active-duty military men and women, is located near the baggage claim area (pre-security). Jacksonville is a Navy town, and the need for such a military lounge is there.

Jacksonville International has two other lounges, a Delta Sky Club and The Club, both located inside security in Concourse A.

Closing Thoughts

This lounge is a great to help military and military families find a place to relax before or between flights. The lounge will give military members a place to connect or unwind. It seems like over the year there have been a handful of lounges that have shutdown due to staffing issues, so if you are able and interested please volunteer to help keep these lounges running.
