The second of the oneworld-branded lounges (first one in Seoul) has opened its first  European lounge. This new lounge is located at the Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) Airport. The lounge opened its doors on February 22, 2024, in the non-Schengen departure hall 2 and takes the place of the former British Airways lounge (marked as Lounge 40). The lounge is open from 05:30 to 22:00 (10 pm) daily and spans 5,091 square feet (473m2) with room for 118 passengers.

Amsterdam airport is served by eight oneworld airlines, including American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc, and Royal Jordanian. Finnair and Iberia are based in the Schengen area of the airport, so passengers on those airlines don't have access to this lounge.

oneworld alliance is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year along with its 13 members and is waiting for Oman Air to join it sometime in the second half of this year. Other airline alliances, such as Star Alliance and SkyTeam, each have well-established lounges around the world, but until recently, oneworld has not offered branded lounges to its customers.

Amenities

The lounge features a self-serve buffet, a full-service bar with cocktails, barista coffee, shower suites, and more. Bird silhouettes can be seen perched over the lounge’s bar, with one even blowing bubble gum. The lounge has floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the airport and a variety of seating and table areas. There is also a quiet room for working or when you need to make a phone call.

The lounge features tailor-made lighting pieces, spherical lights, and iconic arched canal bridges inspired by architecture around Amsterdam. Throughout the lounge, you will see Amsterdam inspiration, including spherical lights arched around canal bridges.

Video Tour

Airways Magazine has done a fantastic job showing the lounge with their short (2:58) video walking through the lounge.

Closing Thoughts

This lounge looks very nice and modern. Overall, it is a nice addition to the oneworld alliance, but I am concerned the lounge is a little small and may become crowded.
