New United Club Terminal A in Newark International Airport (EWR) Opens
United Airlines has opened its newest lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) on June 28th, 2023 (upstairs) in the new Terminal A complex (near gate A27). This club spans 15,000 square-feet and is open from 05:00 to 21:15 daily. This is the only United Club in terminal A, but does join four other United Clubs at Newark, including a Polaris lounge, all located in terminal C.
The club features ample space and seating. More than 300 seats include recliners, couches, and chairs across spaces for lounging, working, dining, and socializing.
Modern design and décor cover the lounge. There is a space that displays hand-crafted artwork from local artists, including a feature mural from Newark-based artist Antoinnette Ellis-Williams. Additional local artworks, including paintings, photographs, and prints from an array of New York and Bronx-based artists, are featured throughout the club.
The club features premium refreshments with local flair. Visitors can enjoy complimentary beverages and snacks at the full buffet and premium bar, including local touches like saltwater taffy and the official New Jersey state sandwich: ham, egg and cheese.
Entrance to the lounge is sped up using the automated check-in gates that allow you to scan your boarding pass for instant access. These automated (self-scan) gates were first seen at the United Club Fly - Grab N'Go Lounge (DEN) in Denver. The club also features high-speed Wi-Fi and seating areas with ample A/C, USB-A, and USB-C charging ports. There is also a Wellness Room to provide a space of comfort for nursing parents or travelers looking to meditate or pray.
Eligible Air Canada travelers will have enhanced club access, including a customer service representative to assist with travel needs.
This is the second club location to open in Newark with United’s new club design and modern amenities. Last year, United opened a massive 30,000-square-foot United Club location near gate C123 at Newark (EWR).
Closing Thoughts
For many years Newark (EWR) airport was one of the less nice airports in the United States, but with the opening of Terminal A and this lounge, things are changing. This United Club is the first new lounge to open in this new terminal but will soon have company with a new American Airlines Admirals Club, American Express Centurion Club, and a Delta Sky Club, all planned to open later in 2023.
