Harlingen Valley Airport Announces (HRL) Upgrades to VIP Club Lounge
Update: The renovated Harlingen VIA VIP Club has reopened on March 22, 2023.
MyRGVNews has shared the details of plans to refresh the VIA VIP Club lounge at the Harlingen (Texas) Valley International Airport (HRL/KHRL) starting this month. The plans are to invest $90,000 in upgrades that are scheduled to kick off on November 7th.
The VIP Club (located near gate 6) currently features leather chairs, work areas, tables, free (non-alcoholic) beverages, TVs, fax machines, flight information screens, and magazines. This lounge is the only lounge at the HRL airport. The Harlingen airport is located in South Texas, a hotspot for people traveling to Texas beaches and offers service from Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, as well as some charter operations.
The VIP Club membership costs $25 for two years and is aimed at business travelers, but available to all. Membership details can be found on the airport’s website. Basically, you fill out the enrollment form and then call the phone number on the page to make your payment, once you have made your payment you pick up your card at the Dispatch Office at the airport (located on the 1st floor).
Closing Thoughts
This lounge sounds great for those wanting a quiet place to relax before a flight. The price of $25 for 2 years is a great value, considering I have seen similar lounges charge $10 a visit. I look forward to seeing what upgrades are done. During the renovation, the lounge will most likely be closed, but the timeline for closure is unknown.
